Recent projects
Logica’s work touches virtually every aspect of modern life. Here are just some of the recent projects we’ve been involved in. Explore our other sites to discover more about our recent innovations and industry achievements.
Air
Logica has just begun a three-year outsourcing contract with Airbus, one of the world’s leading aircraft manufacturers. Our specialist team will manage the company’s application management for document management, archiving, groupware and knowledge management. The contract encompasses maintenance, service and support – and we’ll also advise them on software harmonisation.
Logica has also secured a major contract with Finnair, Finland’s largest airline, which will see us managing their IT infrastructure services. This extensive agreement covers the company's entire staff of 9,500 employees. Our outsourcing team will provide their people with workstation support, server management, mobile terminal support and remote work services.
Defence
Logica has recently been chosen by NATO to deliver a new document handling solution for their entire organisation. This new system will, among other things, provide multi-site document availability and a secure access rights system. It will also be completely integrated with their existing platform.
Energy
Technology has helped E.ON become a global force in the power and gas markets. But as the applications that power its business have become increasingly sophisticated, so has the demand from users for more help. In a five-year-long contract, Logica has taken over support for the company’s SAP and third-party applications. These cover critical business processes such as customer invoicing, debiting, metering and maintenance. By outsourcing their application support, the company has been able to deliver a more responsive, efficient service to both internal and external customers.
Environment
LogicaEMO is a new invention that tackles the problem of car emissions. A plug-in device, it wirelessly monitors vehicle emissions and reports them on a real-time basis to a central computer. This data is then used to provide differential fuel pricing to drivers. Petrol stations will be able to offer prices tailored to individual vehicles and their associated driving behaviours, and therefore incentivize ‘greener’ driving. If the driving behaviour is green, the fuel is priced lower – and the opposite if the driving behaviour is poor.
The Economist has already described LogicaEMO as “one of ten game-changing solutions to combat climate change”. Find out more about this pioneering invention.
Healthcare
Logica is providing a new system to support child healthcare services in the UK’s North West. This innovative database solution will enable children’s health records to be managed effectively across Primary Care Trusts (PCTs). By tracking health records from birth through to education, staff will be able to manage medical issues, immunisation requirements and health alerts more effectively.
Mobile telecoms
Ever since we delivered the first text message, Logica has played a pioneering role in mobile communications. Our technologies are used by some 300 network operators, and it’s estimated that we help to deliver two out of every three text messages sent in the world. If all that wasn’t enough, our mobile interaction systems recently allowed over 60 million people to vote in American Idol.
Law enforcement
Logica is now delivering a new ICT infrastructure for Crimtrac – the Australian government agency that develops information sharing solutions for law enforcement agencies. We will design, supply and implement a new reliable and scalable enterprise-wide ICT infrastructure for our client. We will also build IT systems for two data centres and implement an enterprise-wide disaster recovery solution.
